Subject: telephone renewal
We have a small but persistent problem with patrons who, when shown
overdue fines, insist they renewed by phone, even though our CARL renewal
function shows they did not. Unlike inj-perosn renewal, no receipt is
generated for the patron.
We question patrons closely about when they renewed, whether they marked
the new due date on their calendar, etc, and when they come in, we show
them their log which does not indicate any renewal.
So far, in a face-down, we have not forced patrons to pay up. Repeat
"offenders" will be asked to renew henceforth in person.
Any other suggestions?
