The 85% error rate sounds very high! Maybe there would be a higher error
rate in CIP, but 85% sounds high for that too. When we download our MARC
recods from OCLC to Dynix there is a checker program that MARC tags or if
something key is missing it will tell you.
I'm interested in trying the new OCLC Prompt Cat product. It is supposed
to place the order with OCLC for the MARC record when you place the order
with your book vendor. It will be available in April. I suspect there
will be a lot of CIP in it and I'm concerned about getting correct
records in our systems when they are available via OCLC. Have to wait
and see on this one.
